The French-era icon in the heart of District 1 — address, hours, photo tips and the landmarks right next door.
Saigon Notre-Dame Cathedral (Basilica of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception) is the most iconic French-era building in Ho Chi Minh City, completed in 1880. Its red bricks and most materials were shipped from France, giving central District 1 a rare European look.
Why visit Notre-Dame Cathedral?
It is the perfect starting point for exploring downtown Saigon. The two bell towers rising nearly 60 metres, the red-brick facade and the Peace Madonna statue on the square are favourite photo spots for both local and international travellers.
